Daniel Peters is the Artistic Director of the Dome Theater for music and dance.

Daniel began his professional dance career in San Francisco dancing for Ed Mock and Company (1979-1981). After moving to New York’s Lower East Side, with the lovely and talented Pier Voulkos, he began choreographing for White Dog, and PS 122, as well as dancing in the companies of Donald Byrd and The Group, Rosalind Newman, and Jim self.

After retiring from the modern dance world Daniel began working as an art furniture maker and continued his work as a theatrical set and prop designer for theater.

Daniel has studied tango with Christy Cote, Julian Miller Ramil, and Homer Ladas. He taught tango classes for more than a decade at the Metronome Dance collective in San Francisco, and at The Beat in Berkeley.

As art director for the San Francisco Tango Exchange (2006-2009) he created the “Evil Game Shows” Tango games for live improvisational performances.

Daniel was the stage director for the Queer Tango Festival Shows (2011-2013) and Directed “Women’s Stories” for Tango Con Fusion in 2014.

Mr. Peters is also a filmmaker. He started by making 16mm “silent” tango films for live music performances. He has made several music videos for the Bay Area Bands of Trio Garufa and Los Tangueros del Oeste. In 2021 he Premiered “Reflexion” for Los Tangueros del Oeste starring tango dancers Maxi Copello and Raquel Makow.

Daniel is now the Artist Director for The Dome performances. In collaboration with musical director Alex Zeyliger, Daniel is creating a home for Big Band Tango dance music featuring artists from around the world at The Dome.
